Description:

The Fall of France was the battle which ended the eight-month Phoney War. The battle of France was an invasion of France by the Germans. It began in 1940 and consisted of two operations, Case Red and Case Yellow. Case yellow was when the troops of Germany cut off allied units which had advanced into the country of Belgium at the Ardennes. Case Red took place from June 5. The German armed forces circled the Maginot Line to attack the rest of France. On june 10, Italy began war with the allies and the French government left Paris for Bordeaux, resulting in the take over of Paris on June 14. After the French Second Army Group surrendered on June 22 , France then gave up as a country three days later, hence resutling in a big win for the Axis.
