Smith returns to Jamestown (dec 29, 1607 – jan 1, 1608)
Description:
After making peace with Powhatan, Smith returns to Jamestown. Newport returns with the first supply and prevents Smith from being executed, as the latter has been charged with the deaths of his men on the earlier expedition.

Modern Perspective: Just as it says, Smith was charged for letting the men on the expedition die
17th Century Perspective: Smith had departed Jamestown, and while he was away, the number of Englishmen dropped hard due to presumable lack of food. People were likely also fueled by rage at Smith's poor leadership.
