Augustus (Financial Reforms) (sep 23, 63 BC – aug 19, 14 BC)
Description:
Augustus provided for a complete reform of the financial structure. Together with the expansion and improvement of the Roman Empire, two new taxes were created - a poll tax and a land tax - which completely funded the imperial system. This new system provided trade throughout the empire, leading to stability and security.
