RAF SIMONS appointed as Creative Director for Jil Sander (jul 1, 2005 – feb 25, 2012)

After months of speculation back in 2005, it was finally announced that Raf Simons would be responsible for the womenswear and menswear collections with the FW06/07 collections which will be unveiled in Milan in 2006.This actually marks the very first occasion when Raf needed to create womenswear. During his tenure at Jil Sander, he shifted the aesthetic from an austiere minimalism appeal to expanding it's diffusion line, Jil Sander Navy.
Raf Simons mentioned that " I could not be happier to be working for a brand as pure and clean as Jil Sander. I am eager to carry forward the simple and pristine design that the Jil Sander name represents. There is a strong affinity between how I perceive my own design and the core values that the Jil Sander brand embraces ".
