Changes to class system (jan 1, 1800 – jan 1, 1900)
Description:
As cities and town become populated and industrialized new classes were introduced during this time period, new jobs and high skilled workers were required and new forms of education were introduced for jobs that weren't as common or needed before. Which resulted in a change in class system; the monarchy and aristocrats were no longer the only ones with wealth but the factory owners, entrepreneurs and engineers and many other professionals could now reach the level in which aristocrats were. These successful wealthy professionals were called the newly wealthy. However the switch to capitalism also meant that those running their businesses wanted to get money out of their business without putting as much money into it, and with little government involvement they were allowed to do so. This did not benefit the working class, they worked in poor conditions and didn't get paid well which is likely the reason why child labor during this period of time became very common.
The ideology of liberalism principles of individualism impacted and influenced the industrial revolution which significantly helped the changes to class system occur. This period of time mainly expressed the principle of self interest and with little government control some gained their fortunes while others had to face the city life misfortunes. Self interest was now what some could massively benefit from while some would massively face drawbacks from, that became the economy under capitalism.
