Renaissance (jan 1, 1300 – jan 1, 1600)

Description:

The Renaissance began after the Black plague would've reduced the European population down by about thirty percent. The reconnaissance started off in Italy and it was a period of time which would serve as a bridge from the medieval period to the modern times. The events that occurred during this period would result of the idea of being more human cantered rather than faith centered. The understanding of how the world works, the perception of things would change during this time. Revolutionary artists such as Michael Angelo and Da Vinci would be born in this period of time, scientific discoveries help others to be made and these intellectual improvements and new ideas would be more easily spread by the printing press which could print thousands of pages a day. The idea of humanism also was introduced in this era which is an ethical stance that basically values reason over belief and that value humanity above anything else including any religions. The amount of new ideas and perspectives and discoveries was likely overwhelming for those more conservative and as a result some such as Galileo and his defenders had to face trials and place their life on the line in order to defend their ideas and discoveries.

Liberalism is all bout moving forward with ideas, norms or anything its always about evolving and this is what the Renaissance was all about. In the past the church was almost like the law, going against the church was like going against the law. Although many of the developments, ideas and occurrences contradicted what the church had taught these new ideas would spread like wildfire and it couldn't be stopped. The Renaissance changed forever the way that people think and changed Europe from a collective society to a society based more on individualism. A society in which people acted more differently, and thought more differently, adherence to collective norms would no longer be such a a highly valued principle in this society.
