Whiskey Rebellion (aug 29, 1791 – aug 29, 1794)
Description:
In 1791-1794, the Whiskey Rebellion takes place. Takes place in Western Pennsylvania. They are very different culturally from Eastern Pennsylvania. George Washington will raise a tax on alcohol. It was the first tax on a domestic product by the newly formed federal government. Whiskey was the most popular alcohol in the united states. This alcohol tax exempted states that had the most distillers of alcohol (it’ll go after the smaller distillers).
Aren’t taxes supposed to be evil? Aren’t we supposed to have representation? You’re just like Britain. You are liars.
This is embarrassing for Washington’s administration.
Not many people die. Maybe 3 or 4.
