Sack of Rome (aug 5, 1527 – nov 15, 1527)
Description:
Charles V of Spain - notorious for his belief in unification under Catholicism - seized Rome from Pope Clement VII. This attack was made on basis of Charle's desire to have control over the Pope, thus having control over the Catholic Church. With this victory, Charles was able to strip Clement of his power.
