Also known as The Great War, was a war between two opposing sides, the Allied powers and the Central Powers. The Allied Powers consisted of Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States. The Central Powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire. The war began because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. New technologies and trench warfare were introduced and became a horror of WWI. By time the war ended with the Allied power's victory 16 million had died.
