Final Fall of the West (jan 1, 180 – jan 1, 476)
Description:
The fall of Rome's empire was slow but painful. The Pax Romana ended in 180 BC with the death of Marcus Aurelius. It started a period of turmoil within Rome that went on for a long time. While leaders like Diocletius and Constantine tried to stop Rome's decline by improving it's economy, attacks in the late 300s and 400s by the Huns, Vandals, Visigoths, and Germanic groups heavily weakened Rome. In 476 AD, Germanic leader Odoacer took control of Rome, marking the end of Rome's empire.
