Nicolas Copernicus (oct 23, 1473 – sep 16, 1543)
Description:
Prior to Nicolas Copernicus, the Western Hemisphere believed in a Ptolemaic conception of the universe, meaning the earth was the center of the universe. Copernicus theorized that our sun was the center of the universe and that all of the planets orbited around it. This was called heliocentrism.
