Copernicus, Nicolas (feb 19, 1473 – may 21, 1543)
Description:
Copernicus who formulated an idea that placed the sun in the middle with the planets revolving around it. The model was called the heliocentric model, he also believed that the Earth rotated on its axis. This differed from what society had always believed and created a path that future astronomers could not only use but build upon. This new discovery made people question the purpose of life and caused a dramatic decrease in religious tensions.
