English Civil War (may 12, 1642 – oct 25, 1651)

Description:

The English Civil War was a series of military/political conflicts fought between the supporters of Parliament and the Royalists over the structure and roles of each body in England's government, which ended with England becoming a Republic for a short period, but then returning to a more balanced democracy. With the continual disputes between the monarch and Parliament, which eventually led to a compromise where both powers were balanced evenly and held each other accountable, a new government was instituted in England that changed the country's system from then on, relating back to the AP theme (SP).
