Petrarch (jul 20, 1304 – jul 19, 1374)

Description:

He was a very important figure for humanism due to the fact that he believed in the revival of classical works, ethical teachings (objective knowledge and subjective visions). His knowledge of Latin literature, which helped him understand the nature of his humanism, were highly acknowledge throughout Italy and he was very prominent with his practices with Christianity. Petrarch basically regarded his era as an age of decadence and darkness, but most importantly, he established a foundation for Renaissance Humanism.
