Edict of Nantes (apr 13, 1598 – jul 25, 1629)
Description:
Its major part was that it acknowledged rights for Huguenots and guaranteed protection, but simultaneously it establish Catholicism ash the official religion of France. This was a big step towards acceptance of religious toleration. It is categorized in the AP Theme of institutes of power because it was issued by King Henry IV in order to attain control of controversies regarding religion.
