Description:

Both this and danish phase: catholics very much winning

1617: Ferdinand II becomes HRE & king of bohemia (MD czechoslovakia); devout catholic, so revoked letter of majesty

1618: 2nd defenestration of prague (1st in 1419): furious protestants in bohemia threw ferdinand’s council out the window in retaliation towards his revocation of the letter of majesty
Despite falling 21 meters, the council members somehow survived; catholics claimed angels saved them, while bohemians said they fell in pile of feces
BOHEMIAN REVOLT (phase 1 of 30yw) has begun

Bohemian revolts started spreading into germany → both sides try to get backup
Ferdinand II asked nephew philip IV of spain for help (agreed bc gave spanish opportunity to reconquer the dutch)

Bohemians whore out offers to everyone; austria exposes them for doing a copy paste and no one ends up helping

1619: frederick V elected king of Bohemia

1620: frederick V’s bohemian army and ferdinand ii’s hre army confronted one another @ battle of white mountain; bohemians get merked, their phase is pretty much over BUT drew international attention esp from other protestant leaders → danish phase started
