Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu (jan 31, 1624 – mar 22, 1642)

Description:

During Louis XIII's rule as French monarch, he wasn't the one who made the executive decisions and did the actual ruling - it was actually his chief minister, Cardinal Richelieu. His two primary goals were to centralize the power in France and lessen the power of the Habsburgs (opposition), and he used his power to take down the castles of nobles (in attempts to lessen their power as well) and wipe out the Huguenots.
