Gutierrez-Magee expedition in Nacogdoches, San Antonio, and Medina (jan 4, 1812 – jul 16, 1813)
Description:
After getting approval from the United States to free texas from Spanish rule, Gutierrez went to New Orleans to get a crew for his journey. He met Augustus Magee, who became his military commander. The expedition's army was later called the Republic Army of the North, they easily captured Nacogdoches, and captured Goliad in early November. In August 1813, their army battled Spanish forces south near the Medina river; the Spanish defeated them and killed all of them, all of the colonists now staying at Goliad or Nacogdoches deserted the settlements.
