Philip Nolan (jan 13, 1800 – jan 1, 1801)

Description:

Philip Nolan was a filibuster who came from Ireland. He captured and sold horses, but Spain suspected that he was a spy working for America. He led a party of 27 to Texas and they stayed in Central Texas catching wild horses. In 1801, Spanish soldiers surrounded their campsite near present day Waco, and they fought until he and another man died; the rest of the settlers were imprisoned by the Spanish soldiers.
