Confederacy formed - February 4, 1861 (feb 4, 1861 – may 30, 1861)
Description:
The Confederacy was comprised of 11 states that seceded from the Union after the election of President Abraham Lincoln. When the news of Abraham Lincoln’s election came to the south, many southerners were discontent because they believed that the Union would forcefully take slaves from the south. So, many of the southern states created secession meetings which led to the creation of the Confederacy. The Confederacy was led by a man named, Jefferson Davis. The Confederacy lasted from 1861 to 1865, when the American Civil War had ended. However, after the war, the Confederacy disbanded and no longer existed after they had lost against the Union.
