Townshend Acts (jan 1, 1767 – jan 1, 1773)

Description:

Since the Boston Tea Party affected not just the elites but everyone, the Brits enacted the Intolerable Acts to regain control. The British taxation without representation with the Townshend Acts made the people of the americas dislike monarchy even more than they already did.

Since the Townshend Acts were made by the British who have a monarchy government, democracy was better supported than the checks and balances to give the people more control and to prevent monarchy.
