The Thirty Years War was one of the most tumultuous wars fought in European history, and it highlighted the religious divides that were amplified during the Protestant Reformation. Its conclusion ended in 1648 was in the form of the Treaty of Westphalia, which granted religious tolerance to Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Calvinists, thus ending thirty years of religious warfare, and representing what happens to states in positions of great power.
