Invention of Hydraulic Mining (mar 1, 1853 – mar 31, 1853)
Description:
In March of 1853, Edward Matteson developed the first hydraulic mining tool in Nevada City, California. Having been frustrated by his lack of ability to find gold using conventional methods, Matteson began using high powered hoses to wash away mountainsides, exposing gold deposits.
