Reign of Elizabeth I (sep 7, 1533 – mar 23, 1603)
Description:
Elizabeth came to power during a time of great political and religious turmoil in England. Her long rule and moderate policies helped stabilize England. One highlight was her religious tolerance and the establishment of the Church of England, which would help lower tensions between Catholics and Protestants. She also was a careful diplomat and negotiated well with other European powers until war with Spain broke out, during which the Spanish Armada was crippled.
