Council of Trent (sep 12, 1545 – nov 6, 1563)
Description:
An assembly of Catholic church officials that was designed to make reforms and also attempt to reconcile with the Protestants. After the meetings, very little reform actually occurred, and instead many traditional Catholic beliefs were reaffirmed. This also caused a compromise with the Protestants to be almost impossible.
