1998 Re-authorization of The Higher Education Act (1965) (nov 7, 1999 – 17h 24min, nov 7, 1999 y)

Description:

To better prepare future educators and improve student achievement, the Higher Education Act's re-authorization continued funding and federal aid for higher education teacher programs. The act required states receiving funding to offer traditional, in addition to, alternate methods to teacher development and state certification, while continuing to "hold institutions of higher education accountable for preparing teachers who have the necessary teaching skills and are highly competent in the academic content areas [and] training in the effective uses of technology in the classroom," (Higher Education Act Reauthorization, II, §§ 201-202 (1998)).
