He was a Scottish architect, designer and watercolourist, who played an important role in the Arts and Crafts movement and was also the leading exponent of Art Nouveau in Scotland. His name is mainly related to design by the Glasgow School of Art: it was the He was the driving force and the greatest exponent of the group known as the "Glasgow School" and was distinguished mainly because he recovered the most authentic values of Scottish language and Neo-Gothic taste.
