Description:
revolutionary enemies of the Jacobins who send Robespierre to the guillotine; they replace the national convention; five wealthy people rule and provide some stability but are very corrupt (authority is breaking down); unable to solve military and economic problems of revolutionary France
Revolution does not solve any of original problems:
people are still poor and have no rights
back to where they started: king is gone, wealthy people in charge, still in debt, people are hungry
