Rutherford discovered the nucleus. (jan 1, 1911 – 23h 59min, dec 31, 1911 y)
Description:
Rutherford discovered the nucleus through experiments with gold atoms. By firing alpha particles at a sheet of gold foil, he was able to prove the existence of the nucleus because not all the alpha particles passed straight through the gold foil. Since some of the particles were deflected, there had to be solid masses in the gold atoms. These solid masses were the nuclei of the gold atoms.
