Roman Law is the legal system of ancient Rome. It spanned for over one millennium and included legal developments from the Twelve Tables to the Corpus Juris Civilis. Roman law influences the US in many ways today. For example, codified law, civil and common law, the use of punishment to deter crime, courts, trials, and participants, the lawmaking process, and legal language.
