ART DECO (jan 1, 1920 – jan 1, 1940)

Description:

Art Deco was a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before the First World War. Art Deco influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, automobiles, cinemas, trains, transatlantic and everyday objects. As radios and vacuum cleaners. It combined modernist styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamor, exuberance and faith in social and technological progress.
The Art Deco is characterized by the use of geometric figures delineated with precision and the use of strong and striking colors. The movement emerges as a way of printing optimism after the depression of the First World War. Art is oriented towards a future by adopting modern ideas as a celebration towards progress. The Art Deco style had many influences on the avant-garde currents that preceded it as Cubism and Futurism, but they are differentiated by the motives of ancient cultures such as , for example, the Egyptian, the Asian and the Mesopotamian. In this sense, art is considered the first global decorative style. The Chrysler Building and other skyscrapers of New York built during the 1920s and 1930s are monuments of the Art Deco style.
