The Townshend Acts (jun 22, 1767 – apr 12, 1770)
Description:
Acts passed by Parliament that levied indirect taxes on goods exported from England to the colonies. Enforced by writs of assistance (general search warrants). Colonists were okay with this in principle, however, they were upset with the way it was enforced.
