Vaccine to target cause of cancer (jan 1, 2006 – jan 1, 2006)
Description:
This vaccine helps pervent mostly cervical cancer. The HPV vaccine was deveopled by a team of University of Queenisland researchers led by professor Ian Frazer in parallel with US reasearch groups at the National cancer institute. Today the HPV vaccine is recomended for preteens ages 9-12 and it requires two doses. Teens and young adults who start the series later (ages 15-27) will need three doses of the vaccine. This vaccine is not reconmended for people with weakend immune systems.
