Patience Wright (jan 1, 1725 – mar 23, 1786)
Description:
Her original name is Patience Lovell. She was the first American-born sculptor of wax figures who was famous in both America and England. She began modeling in wax and became known when she was a widow with five children in 1769. Within a short time period, she created a traveling exhibition of waxworks of some famous public figures which showed her sophisticated skill.
