Description:
A movement amongst African-American artists, writers, poets, musicians, civil rights leaders and thinkers, based in Harlem,New York. It was an attempt to find a uniquely black american voice; the blues, jazz formed a musical centre for the movement, but it touched all aspects of the "negro" experience in the USA.
