Description:
The Mali Empire was an empire on the western coast of Africa, well-known for its wealth. It profited off its vast resources of gold and controlled trade and trade routes. King Mansa Musa, on a pilgrimage to Mecca (the Mali were predominantly Muslim), spread the Mali's reputation of wealth. At its height in 1300, it was one of the world's largest empires. However, internal conflict led to loss of land and eventually the empire collapsed
