Ottoman Empire (jan 1, 1299 – jan 1, 1922)
Description:
The Ottoman Empire succeeded the Byzantine Empire, and was established by Turkish tribes in Anatolia. Its early history was characterized by territorial expansion, and at its height (1520-1566, under the sultan Suleiman), the Ottoman empire was one of the largest empires in history. They were known for their developments in science, art, architecture, and medicine. In the 1600s its influence, size, and economic stability declined, and in 1922, the empire was replaced by the Turkish Republic.
