Franklin D Roosevelt (mar 5, 1933 – apr 12, 1945)

Description:

FDR wins by a landslide, in the midst of the great Depression, with a plan termed the "New Deal" - a series of reforms and programmes designed to provid relief for America's newly impoverished and unemployed, whilst trying to bring about economic recovery. Roosevelt dies in office.

FDR is the only President to serve more than two terms in office. It had been convention not to seek a third term after George Washington declined to do so; the 22nd Amendment was ratified in February 1951 to limit the Presidency to two terms.
