Alexander of Macedon was the son of Philip II of Macedon. He inherited his father's kingdom when he died in 336 B.C.E. He went on to conquer most of the known world of the time from the middle of the Mediterranean to the edge of India and he would have gone further if his army did not demand they stop. He is considered ¨great¨ because of his military and diplomatic achievements. He is also well known for his spread of Greek culture. After his death due to Malaria in 323 B.C.E, his kingdom was split up into four sections that went to his four generals.2.2
