Siddartha Gautama, or better known as the Buddha was a man who lived from 563 B.C.E to 483 B.C.E. He was the leader and founder of a set of Sramanas. His teachings are seen as the core of Buddhism. After his death the community of believers he founded slowly developed Buddhism and by the 3rd century B.C.E it had turned into a state-religion with Siddartha as their prophet. His legacy continues on today as Buddhism is still a universal religion.
