DUNS SCOTO (jan 1, 1266 – jan 1, 1308)
Description:
Born in Duns, he entered the Franciscan Order around 1278, standing out for his intelligence and piety. He studied in Oxford and Paris. He was banished for defending Pope Boniface VIII against King Philip the Beautiful. In 1305 he received a doctorate in theology and in 1307 he was sent to Cologne, where he died the following year.
