Articles of Confederation (jan 1, 1781 – jan 1, 1788)
Description:
The Articles of Confederation are the official governing document of the US during this time period. They are flawed, however because they made it so the government
- did not have the power to tax
- had to borrow money from the states
- could not regulate trade
- could not force states to obey national laws
- could only act with the consent of 9 out of the 13 states
The Articles also needed unanimous consent to be amended.
