Description:

The Enlightenment and the Great Awakening were two societal movements that took place in American colonial society. The enlightenment represented a shift towards logic and reason, people began to focus on the study of human nature. The Great Awakening was an unorganized movement of the Anglican Church in which the Church attempted to renew a love of religion amongst the colonies. This movement is what led to new denominations in Christianity such as Baptists and Presbyterians.
