Description:

The Seven Years War was the first truly global war ever fought. It was fought in the New World (North/South America/Caribbean), India, Africa, and in Europe. It marked the final chapter in the century long struggle of supremacy in the world between different world powers. It was particularly important to Canada as this war changed the course of Canadian history drastically from a French dominated to Canada to an English. The conflict fought between France, and Canada in North America during this time was given the name the French Indian War. The Seven years war would conclude in the Treaty of Paris in February 1763. The British gained French Quebec, and other parts of New France. This would mark the end of French involvement in New France/North America, and lead to a highly English North America, and eventually Canada. Despite this victory, the English were in crippling debt, and had to tax her colonies. This war ironically set in motion the American War of Independence. The war was distratous for France as well. Her prestige, and image were ruined after this war. The war starting sowing discontent among the French population climaxing in the French Revolution.
