Europe boosts their voltage supply to 240 volts. (jan 1, 1950 – jan 1, 1969)
Description:
In the US, there were already so many homes that were supplied with 110 volts that it was too expensive to upgrade to 240 volts. Eventually, supplying only 110 volts proved to be too ineffective and the US instead began to supply 240 volts over two 120-volt circuits.
