The struggle between Visigoths and Byzantines (jan 1, 690 – dec 31, 699)
Description:
The last few years in 7th century witnessed many part of Mediterranean area were enlightened with the coming of Islam. Muslim controls the whole region started from southern shore of Mediterranean in Anatolia until the Straits of Gibraltar. Conversion were everywhere in the region.
Personally, I think they had a huge fear to the coming of Islam not because of losing status or power but it is because of the inferior they had within themselves. Inferiority which caused them to be ignorant and became bolder in the actions and justifications.
However, the fear to change and be different than others is normal and common. Despite, psychiatrists are studying a new term called ‘God Complex’. This person with god complex usually have attitude deficit in a way he refuses to admit or accept any failure and correction in his belief.(1) It is a fact that Islam brought eternal peace onto the believer as well as improving individual in good means. They saw Muslim as threat in both political and religious aspect that will later decrease their influence in the empire.(2)
To conclude, we can see later, the flourished of Islam in the peninsula alter this problem and misconception furthermore rose the city into its peak moment in history.
