Description:

- He was born on December 18, 1856, in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, United Kingdom and died on August 30, 1940, in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
- He discovered the electron in 1897 (negatively charged subatomic particle). He also discovered the Isotope.
- In 1906, he began studying positively charged Ions with ionized neon and discovered that neon was made up of two different types of atoms which proved the existence of isotopes in an element.
- His discoveries pened the theory that the atom was the smallest unit.
- He was awarded many awards such as the Nobel Prize in Physics, Copley Medal, and Royal Medal.
