New Netherlands was established in 1614. The Colony was established in the New York area. Henry Hudson founded New Netherlands. They established the colony because of trade. The people who colonized New Netherlands were friendly and treated the natives fairly. They traded with them and left them alone. they ended up successful. New Netherlands ended up being the first Dutch settlement in the new world (jan 12, 1614 – dec 9, 1614)
