Battle of Somme (jul 1, 1916 – nov 18, 1916)
Description:
Allied efforts to take away the focus from Verdun. Occurred in Northern France on a 15-mile front. Over 1,000,000 total casualties. Largest Battle in WWI. One of the bloodiest battles in human history. 19,000 deaths on singular days. British strongly used "The creeping barrage". First use of tanks, proved unsuccessful.
