June 21/July 27 1919 3 people killed by whites. Police did nothing, blacks rioted, whites responded by assaulting 38 blacks and killing 2. On July 28, 1919 20 people were killed and hundreds injured. By the end of this period, 38 people were dead, and 537 injured (black and white)o Result was racially restrictive real estate covenants by whites
